Our Program
Educational Program
At Corinda Community Kindergarten, we recognise each child as an individual with unique needs, interests, abilities, and learning styles. Our dedicated educators carefully observe and plan specific experiences daily to enhance each child’s learning journey. We follow the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG), ensuring a comprehensive and balanced approach to early childhood education.
Parents are encouraged to engage with the program planning process. A planning web for each group is available in the Art room, located in the programming area. Daily updates and learning stories are shared via the Storypark app, keeping families informed and connected. Each child has a personalised portfolio of learning stories, which is compiled throughout the year and presented to them at the end of the year.
The Importance of Play
Play is the foundation of our educational approach, as it is recognised as the most natural way for young children to learn. Both the EYLF and QKLG highlight play’s critical role in intellectual, creative, emotional, social, and physical development. The United Nations recognises play as a fundamental right for all children. At our kindergarten, we ensure that children have ample opportunities for sustained periods of play, allowing them to explore, imagine, and develop essential skills.
Parent Input and Involvement
We highly value parent input and feedback as it enriches our program and supports our educational goals. Parents are invited to contribute their skills and interests, whether by cooking with the children, sharing a craft activity, or reading stories. We believe that collaborative relationships with families enhance the educational experience for all children. Feedback can be shared through Storypark, email, or direct conversations with our educators.
Excursions and Guests
Our program includes a variety of excursions and guests that connect children with their local community and the broader world. Regular excursions to places like St John’s Church, Corinda Library, and the RSL next door help children become familiar with their surroundings, fostering a sense of safety and belonging. We also invite special visitors, such as the Fire Brigade, local police officers, cultural educators, and others, to enhance the learning experience. These activities are integral to our curriculum and are provided at no additional cost to families.

Learning Through Real-Life Experiences
We provide numerous real-life experiences as part of our program, encouraging children to engage with the world around them. Activities include gardening, cooking, science experiments, and nature play. Seasonal activities, like raising silkworms in the spring and water play in the summer, offer unique learning opportunities. Additionally, our partnership with the Queensland Museum allows us to borrow educational items, enriching the children’s understanding of the natural world.
